Welcome to a glimpse into Telensa’s world, where apprentices like Katie are not just starting their careers but are also paving the way for innovative solutions in the tech industry. This year, Katie began her academic journey in Digital and Technology Solutions while actively contributing to our operations team.
Since joining Telensa, Katie has taken on the role of Apprentice Radio Network Planner. Her daily responsibilities are crucial and varied, ranging from planning intricate city and area radio networks using a bespoke GIS system, to performing deep-dive analyses of live performance data to optimize network operations.
"In my role, I closely collaborate with the sales team to prepare accurate bids for projects and provide operational support to enhance our live radio systems. I also utilize data analysis and machine learning to refine our radio planning processes," Katie explains.
Katie reflects on her transition from Sixth Form to the professional world, a shift that she found surprisingly seamless thanks to the support and responsibility entrusted to her. "The level of responsibility and trust I've been given, along with the impactful work I've completed, has far exceeded my initial expectations," she notes.
Katie values the collaborative culture at Telensa, emphasizing how the support from her team has been pivotal in her professional growth.
"I've had the chance to work with colleagues across different departments, which enriches my understanding and experience. Regular catch-ups with my manager help me set and achieve my professional goals," she shares.
Outside of her professional commitments, Katie is an avid rower, a passion that complements her rigorous work ethic. She's currently preparing for an ambitious challenge—rowing across the Baltic Sea. "I love being on the water, and in my spare time you can usually find me in the gym or at Ely Rowing club. Rowing teaches me discipline and resilience, qualities that I bring to my role at Telensa," Katie remarks.
